Fangirl Friday: Eddy Kim

K-Pop

Real Name:Kim Jung – hwan

Age: 24

Birthdate: November 23, 1990

Eddy Kim is like a breath of fresh air in kpop’s over-saturation of boy bands. Not to say I hate the boy bands. I love them. It’s just nice to hear something different every once in a while.

I came across Eddy Kim quite by accident. Youtube surfing does that. I saw a link for his song “The Manual” and decided to try it. 2 hours later I was binging on any and everything Eddy Kim. The soulful voice, the guitar chords…I was sold.

This man wrote a song about how to woo a lady. Are you freaking serious? About damn time someone wrote something like this. No cutesy aegyo, just realness.

*sigh*

The rest of his album is equally as magical. Even my mother, with her retired music teacher self, enjoys Eddy Kim. Her personal preference is 밀당의 고수 Push & Pull. Plus she thinks he’s cute.

I agree.

Eddy Kim

Eddy Kim started off on Mnet’s Superstar K4 and even though he didn’t win the competition (why the hell not?) he caught the eye of Mystic89’s co-founder Yoon Jong-shin. He released his debut album in April 2014 and the rest, as they say, is history.

It didn’t seem like a long time until he released his repackaged album with a new song, Darling.

Not one of my personal favorites but still a decent song.

Fast forward a few months and Eddy Kim is back again with his new album Sing, Sing, Sing. I cannot get enough of it. His first release off the album, Apologize, has some rocker elements that sound very different from his debut album. Still amazing though.

I am so excited to see what 2015 brings for Eddy Kim. This man is truly a gifted musician.

Here is his SNS if you are ever interested in checking him out.

So tell me, do you listen to Eddy Kim as much as I do? What’s your favorite song?

I love Eddy Kim too ever since I listened to the Manual last year. It’s such a minimalistic yet beautiful song. I’ve listened to the Manual album so many times and I was really excited when he was coming back this year! The Sing Sing Sing album is different stylistically than the Manual but its still so good! I love Sing Sing Sing and Artificial Flower. I thought My Love, the title track, was ok…it grew on me after a couple of listens but I feel like it can’t beat the Manual haha

I’m still confused as to how the Darling video is rated 12 and not 15+
