Holy crap. What did I just watch? I don’t even know…

Okay. I was getting lazy and just wanted to watch something RIGHT AWAY and stumbled across Role Play on Hulu. I didn’t read any of the comments, I just hit play. Why? WAE?!?!?! Before I continue my rant let’s look what Asian Wiki has to say about the movie, something I should have done BEFORE I WATCHED IT.

Best-selling writer Jung-Ho delves into the world of role play to write his next novel. Meanwhile, his wife Ji-Soo is always suspicious of her husband’s fidelity. A sexy female university student named Hye-In then enters the picture.

Jung-Ho is strongly attracted to Hye-In who looks like his first love. Through play role, Jung-Ho makes her his muse and he buries himself into writing his new novel. His wife Ji-Soo then secretly reads her husband’s new novel and becomes consumed with jealousy. She then she has sex with Jung-Ho.

Alright. Psycho wife, philandering husband and his younger girlfriend. Got it.

But no, there is so much more.

The wife is psychotic but rightfully so. She catches Jung-Ho with the girl in their house. Rather then flip out right away, she cooks the girl dinner and then preceeds to interrogate her. Then she gets drunk, has the husband take her upstairs and then forces him to have sex with her. Though thinking back on it, how do you force a man to sleep with his wife? I’m not really sure… Anyway on top of ALL THAT, Hye-In (the girlfriend) was watching!

That’s straight up nasty. And its just beginning. Ji-Soo falls deeper into obsession over her husband’s infidelity and ends up doing something unthinkable….or so we think.

I swear if you blink you will be thoroughly confused (at least I sure as hell was). There is some major Inception-esque type stuff happening in this movie that lead me to say What. The. Fuck. Seriously. I keep waiting for something to pop up after the credits rolled to see if maybe I missed something. I didn’t.

Overall the movie was alright…no it wasn’t. I didn’t care for it. I don’t want to say it was terrible but I just didn’t care for it at all. All the actors did alright but I think the whole thing was a bit too off the wall, even for me. And I like writer movies.  If you are ready to watch it anyway, it’s available on Hulu. But keep in mind that if you are under 18, Hulu will tell you too bad, so sad.

Let me know what you think? Have you seen it? What are your thoughts?

I just watched this movie and was completely confused by the ending! Do you think you can attempt to explain the ending???

Sorry for the late response! I think the ending was supposed to show that the husband had paid the women in his life to act like that so he could write a book on it. In my opinion, it is a very strange way to get inspiration, but that’s what I gathered from it.
