Wooh! Go me for completing a drama in a reasonable amount of time. *victory dance* Honestly though, I liked Cheongdamdong Alice. Like seriously liked the drama. Why? Because Jean Theirry Cha was a freaking maniac! We all remember how I felt after watching the first 3 episodes right? No? *gasp* Well no worries, I’ll be reviewing it again.

Ok, so we have Han Se Kyung, a fledgling designer who works for GN company as a part-timer. She isn’t really qualified but is hired because her arch nemesis in high school is the wife of the head of the company (or however chaebol families work). The wife, Seo Yoo Joo is a grade A BITCH really mean to Han Se, having her buy expensive things, run all over town for no reason. Jump forward to when Han Se finds out this chick is her boss?!?!?! You know it was going to be ugly.

While all that is going on, Han Se’s bs shoveler of a boyfriend, So In Chan, has stolen money from his company, Artemis. Han Se tries to help him resolve this issue but all she gets in return is a broken heart and a broken bank account (dude stole her money & moved to South America). Enter MY DUDE Jean Theirry Cha.

He is the Korean president of Artemis and certifiably insane (but in a good way). He came back to Korea because SPOILER ALERT… he used to be married to Seo Yoo Joo and he’s back for revenge. She ended up dumping him because she just wanted money. His family’s money to be exact. His father, Cha Ill Nam, disinherited him because he wanted to marry her. Confused yet? Basically, the father bought off the wife for $30,000 and the promise to introduce her to famous families. Now I’m not saying she’s a gold digger…you get where I’m going with this reference.

Where was I??? Oh yes. So These three already have their lives intertwined though they don’t know it. (this is where it gets interesting). Han Se is pissed about the status of her life and decides she wants to enter Cheongdamdong (a ritzy place where rich folks live). She asks Seo Yoo Joo for help (she knows she was married before, though not to who) and she agrees to help.

They set their sights on Tommy Hong, an asshole a designer who has a knack for matching couples.

Tommy Hong sees Han Se and invites her to his party. She thinks he likes her and blah blah blah. No way honey. He just thinks you’re another….um entrepreneur, so he sets her up with a guy that wants to pay her to sleep with him. *gasp*  (apparently ish like this really happens, its called “sponsorship”).
All this misunderstanding stuff gets back to Jean Theirry and he gets pissed.

I’m talking punches were thrown and soy sauce was poured. (yes it got that real).  At this point of the drama, Jean Theirry is in love with Han Se (only in kdramas). The only problem is since he had gotten his heart shredded by Seo Yoo Joo, he has a thing against falling in love. Oh, and he told Han Se that he was the secretary and not the president (dumb move).

The majority of the drama from that point on is all about Han Se falling in love with “Secretary Cha”, finding out he’s actually the president, Tommy Hong and Yoo Joo trying their damnedest to break up the two and a bunch of other madness.

Fun moments: Seo Yoo Joo getting found out by her sister in law that she’s a gold digger.

She makes the best scared faces

Tommy Hong almost getting punched in the face (BY ME) for wearing this poop brown turtleneck for almost 2 whole episodes!!!

And of course, every time Jean Thierry would start dancing to music in his head.

All in all, Cheongdamdong Alice was a good drama. I liked that Han Se didn’t care easily like the typical lead actress. Yes there is a typical happy ending at the end but there were some things that happened, I didn’t expect. If you haven’t watched it, I recommend it. If you have seen it, how did you like it?
