KCon 2014: The Concert Experience

HodgePodge

I know I haven’t been around lately and I apologize. I WAS AT KCON!!! As you know I’ve been saying I’m going to KCon 2014 since the end of KCon 2013. I was able to scrape together enough money to attend and it was amazing. Now that I am back, and mostly recovered, I wanted to do a series on my experiences there. I am going to start with the music so be prepared for a long post on KCon 2014: The Concert Experience.

Day 1

I was mostly excited about day 1 because my favorites were all going to be performing. Now I am stop right here to say this: I AM NOT A FAN OF ALL THE GROUPS THAT PERFORMED.  Having said that, I am in awe of how all these artists did that night. I mean they were really REALLY good. So without further ado, let’s get right into it.

VIXX

VIXX 2

I am officially a Starlight. In the past, I would say I was a casual fan of VIXX but after finally hearing them live and seeing them dance in person… I was almost in tears. The started off with my favorite “Voodoo Doll” and were breathing like dragons by the time they were through. Other songs they did were “On & On“, “Eternity” and “Only U“. I can’t remember if they did more songs then that because I was at fangirl status when the opening chords of “Only U” started. I thought I wasn’t going to do that much screaming but I almost lost my voice during the first act.

IU

IU

I don’t really know IU’s music. Actually I only know her as having a lot of “uncle fans” and that weird photo business with Eunhyuk (weird as in I STILL don’t know why that was a scandal). After watching her perform though I was amazed. Her music reminded me of retro/disco style and I was pleasantly surprised! It really made me respect her as an artist because she was dancing around with the dancers in those ridiculously high heeled red shoes with no problem. I’d be falling all over the place, lol.

B1A4/Teen Top

B1A4 and Teen Top performed on the first night as well. And while I didn’t know any of their music, again I had to respect them because they performed well. The crowd REALLY loved them too. Maybe if I were 10 years younger, I’d be more into them. CAP from Teen Top was really cute though. I could tell that from the P3 area where I was sitting. He was truly rocking the sunglasses and black & white paisley print jacket.

G-Dragon

G-Dragon. Shut. That. Ish. Down. Holy crap! Everyone was screaming and clapping and dancing. It was just one HUGE dance party and I loved every bit of it. And I quote “…it’s me” I mean really. The feels for him came back that night. “Michigo“, “Who U”, and “One of A Kind” was the perfect ending to day 1.

Day 2

I thought I was just gonna chill because I didn’t really listen to any of the artists that were performing on the second day. I was really wrong, but in a good way.

BTS

These dudes were incredible! They were hard-hitting, upbeat and RapMonster was a freaking beast! By the end of their set, I was calling myself part of their ARMY. The only song I recognized was “No More Dream” but I will definitely look into them more. You might hear them on a future episode of Daebak City!

 Jung Joon Young

Again, I don’t know this artist, but WOW! He was getting down! Complete with his own reindition of Michael Jackson’s Black or White. He had some powerful vocals and the crowd loved him.

CNBlue

cnblue

Killed it. I don’t know their fan club name but I am seriously thinking of joining.

SPICA

Spica

I officially became a Mercury halfway through their performance. I have always liked them but once they started singing Blackstreet’s “No Diggity” and Boys II Men “Thankyou”…I almost fell out of my chair. This girls vocals are legit! And their American debut “I Did It” is so catchy I went home and downloaded it from iTunes.

Girls Generation

snsd

Not a huge fan (though I like their subgroup TTS) but they are the original kpop girl group. They broke a lot of ground for the artists I know and love so I respect them. Good grief, how many of them are there though? A lot of my Aewen family were fans so I’m glad they were able to see their favorite girl group perform.

So what did you think of the concerts? Where you able to attend? Did you have good seats? Let me know in the comment section below! I can’t wait until the next KCon!
