Holy smokes talk about memories!!! Bad Guy was the very first k-drama melodrama I’d ever seen. The reason why I wanted to see this was that I had just finished watching Coffee Prince (which had Kim Jae Wook) and wanted to continue watching all his dramas. Then I saw that it had the actress from Playful Kiss and I thought, cool.  My kdrama group warned me that it was a melodrama and I might cry but I was all like, please, I’ll be fine.

Obviously, I was wrong on that one.

Can we say mind games with this drama? OMG!!! Kim Nam Gil (fangirl scream) plays Geon Ok, a stunt double psychopath person who has a dark past when it comes the Hong family. Here’s the short version of it: Geon Ok, whose real name is Tae Sung, is the illegitimate son of Jeon Kuk Hwan. He lives with his deaf “family” until the Hongs find him and make him live with them. The mother (the vilest, hated person I’ve ever seen in a kdrama to date) can’t bear to see him in the house so she sets up a scheme to bring in another child and say that the deaf family was trying to scheme money out of them. You know what happens then, right? They toss out the first child and take in the second.

In true kdrama fashion, a bunch of crap happens that cause Geon Ok to vow to destroy the Hong family just like his family and life was destroyed. He starts with the younger sister, Hong Mo Nae, getting her to fall in love with him, before moving on to the older. While this was happening, he crosses paths with Moon Jae in who is trying hard to woo the current Tae Sung (Kim Jae Wook). Are you following me so far?  The whole who loves who thing got me confused at points so I found a chart that helps.

I wasn’t really interested in watching his younger sister fall in love with him (she was really acting pathetic) I wanted him and Jane to just say screw this crazy ass family and go off in the sunset but when does something like that EVER happen in kdramas?

Geon Ok messing with his older sister was something else. That elevator kiss scene??? Wow. Geon Ok was going in on her! I even blushed. Check it out.

He really did a number on her right? He also did a number on the current Tae Sung and I did feel a bit bad about that. Tae Sung was just the replacement guy. He didn’t ask to be brought in as a child. I mean sure, he’s a bit bratty and whiny but if you went through all the drama that his crazy ass mama made him go through, you’d probably have some drama too.

Have you ever seen a drama where you just hate everyone? Yeah, that’s Bad Guy for me. Except for Jae In (maybe and even she pissed me off sometimes) and her sister.  I know I’m babbling. I can feel my blood rushing just from remembering this drama. The things that this family do to each other is just deplorable. Kim Hye-Ok, the actress who plays Satan’s the mother, should have gotten an Oscar (or whatever the Korean equivalent is) because she played such an awful person that I have trouble watching other dramas she’s in because I flash back to how she was in Bad Guy.

Have you seen this drama? If you have, let me know what you thought of it. If you haven’t I urge you to check it out. It’s really, truly good. I couldn’t find the trailer for this particular drama so I added my favorite song off of the OST, Jung Yeop’s Thorn Flower.

Also, check out the drama on Dramafever and let me know what you think of it!

Thorn Flower was my first KDrama OST song download! I hunted it down, rabidly until I found it. This was my 3rd drama ever watched. I watched the first 11 episodes (a mini-marathon), then had to take a breather because there were so many hateful characters. I fell in love with Kim Jae Wook because his character was so pitiful! Kim Nam Gil? Loved every minute he was on the screen. Talk about H..O.

I knew I liked you! Thorn Flower is an amazing song! Actually this entire OST is great. And I didn't want to say anything about the ending because a lot of people won't watch it simply because the ending is so bad. Ugh… but is Glass Mask really good? I am thinking of starting it up.
