KCON NY 2019 concert night

Forgive me now because I’m rusty when it comes to writing and well…this is gonna be a long post. We have amazing KCON NY 2019 concert nights to get through and I know I can’t be the only one that went into the concerts not being familiar with all the artists performing. I have to say this is the first KCON that I’ve been to that I didn’t know the majority of the artists. Is this a sign of old age? I’m going to go out on a limb and say no. I really wanted to learn about the artists so I made sure my butt was in a seat before the concert started.  So without further ado, let’s get into it!

Saturday night had a slight change to the line up due to the fact that Everglow was not able to make it (due to visa issues). I had read a lot of comments from fans about that but we’ll get more into that another day.

Preshow

Kevin Woo opened as the MC for the first night and performed two songs. I know Kevin from his U-Kiss days but didn’t know he was working on solo stuff so I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed when he performed Ride Along and found myself humming the tune well after the concert was over.

Main Event

After Kevin completed his set, TXT was on the stage. Fanboy is a big fan of theirs so it was cool to watch him be entertained. I..I know they’re talented and they sound great but personally aren’t my cup of tea. Cat and Dog was the one song I recognized and while I cheered along with the rest of the crowd, I had to ask myself why did they want to be a dog?

The Boyz was another mystery to me, though I actually have one of their songs, Lucid Dreams, on my playlist. They didn’t sing that song though so, unfortunately, I was 100% lost. What I enjoyed were the fan reactions. They were so excited to see these rookie boys that I found myself cheering along.  I always get excited when I see someone perform that I really enjoy and I get second-hand excitement when I see other people’s enjoyment. I really must take the time to learn more about their music.

Iz*One was the only girl group of night one and they held their own. I mean the girls were adorable. They danced well and I actually knew a lot of their music (so yay for me).

When they started to perform Violeta, I was in heaven! I never realized how much I enjoyed that song until Saturday night.  In addition to my personal favorite, they seemed to have done every song they released, in addition to fan service which went over well with the fanboys I was sitting near.

Ateez was the group that a lot of people were waiting for. My goodness, their fanbase is massive! I even found myself cheering along though I don’t know a lot about them.

I’m definitely adding them to the list of groups I must learn about, lol.

Finally the group I was looking forward to seeing the most hit the stage. Nu’Est. Let me tell you about the madness that is Ajummah’s last-second love of Nu’Est. I’ve known their music for a while but it wasn’t until they released their album W,HERE (when they were Nu’Est W) that I really enjoyed them. Jump to when they released Bet Bet and I was a goner.

They started their set with Bet Bet and I screamed from beginning to end. I probably embarrassed Fanboy but he’ll get over it. Their sound is so soulful and their dancing was so intense…I hope they have a world tour soon. The only thing I didn’t like about Nu’Est’s set was that it seemed to have ended abruptly. I mean, one second I’m jamming along and doing body rolls in my head, they next the confetti is coming down and the house lights are being turned on. That was the end of night one.

My take away from the night was that I needed to learn more about the groups I knew nothing about and to continue to support the ones I did love. I hope everyone that attended had a fabulous time as I did. You’ll hear about how foolish I acted during night 2 when Seventeen performed so stay tuned for that!
