When The Cover Outshines the Original

K-Pop
kpop cover

As you all know, I love music. And kpop. It just fills my heart with such joy ^_^ What I like even more is when folks redo kpop songs with an R&B vibe to them. I have gone on record several times saying this (and if I haven’t well at least I’ve thought about it).

Anyways here are some of my favorite Korean kpop/R&B covers.

Yoo Young-jin : SuJu’s Sorry Sorry

OMG! This is so amazing! Seriously. I mean I like Super Junior’s Sorry Sorry but THIS. This is turn down the lights & get close to your mate type music. What? 0_o Oh don’t act like you weren’t thinking that.  Yoo Young Jin is a singer/song writer for SM Entertainment. He’s been around since the early 90s working with artists like EXO, H.O.T and f(x).

Shin Yong Jae: SHINee’s Sherlock

Okay…Shin Yong Jae.  Everyone probably knows him from 4Men or Immortal Song 2. This man can sing the hell out of some ballads. He released his solo album early this year and it was really a solid piece of artistic work. Ya’ll should really check it out.

Pumashock: BoA – Eat You Up

To prove I am not male biased or even idol biased, I wanted to throw my girl Pumashock on the list. She is an amazing singer and arranger. As a matter of fact, listening to a lot of her covers made me first fall in love with kpop. Check out her channel and be amazed.

There is so many more and of course the whole Korean R&B genre (Yoon Mirae, Brown Eyes, etc). I will definitely write about that soon. For now just enjoy these 3 songs and let me know what your favorite cover is!
